Multiplication Problem Solving

Hello everyone :), hope you are well!!!

Lately I have been teaching multiplication to my son. I designed a multiplication table and he is learning it by heart. I am not a fan of memorization activities his studies. I believe that reading and explaining the information within your own words is the best way to learn something. Most of the times information adapted with this methodology will be retained for meany years to come. Therefore, the multiplication table is a case apart, in my point of view. It is a system of repetition until you know it by heart.

The table is done up to 10.

I also created problem solving worksheets to help him develop his critical thinking skills, and practice multiplication. Below are a few examples.

Vowels and Consonants

I purchased on TPT  a vowel recognition game called Frog Hop Vowel Recognition by K. Kindergarten. I bought this product because I thought it was a great idea to revise recognition of vowels, as well as consonants.

This game has 40 CVC cards to help the students to recognize vowels.  Whilst my son and I were playing the game, I asked him to read aloud the word, and tell me the vowel and the consonants shown on each card. When the game was finished I asked him to rhyme the words and then write it on his notebook. He also wrote the consonants and vowels written on each group. This game is really nice to practice recognition of vowels and consonants, and you can also practice rhyming, spelling and writing like my son did. I highly recommend you to purchase this material.

I also designed a vowels and consonants poster to put on our language arts center. This poster is available for FREE on TPT. To download your free copy please click on the following link: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Vowels-and-Consonants-Poster

I would also like to remind you about our giveaway, which is ending on Friday at midnight. Question and Exclamation Words Poster

Hello everyone!!!!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

When my son needed to work on punctuation; writing questions and exclamation words, he sometimes struggles to recognize and apply to writing. I have been seeking options for a while to make him understand this concept in an effective and successful way. As well as preventing as much frustration when writing a journal, or simply doing a punctuation exercise.

It seems like I found a solution :). I designed a question mark and exclamation point words poster to help him recognize the most common words when using these two punctuations. It also aims to aid him in writing and using punctuation. If your pupils are going through the same problem as my son, these poster will certainly help him to improve his writing skills.

These posters may be put on your writing center or bulletin board for display.

There are two different backgrounds for each poster. The images below are samples:

Bird Nest

Hello everyone, hope you had a great day today. The weather was lovely here in Chicago - it was warm, the sky was blue and the sun was shining :)))) - a perfect spring day.

To welcome spring again :), my son created a bird nest, which looked very nice. The idea was taken from Kaboose. They used American moss to create the nest, and we used sticks and leaves that we picked from our front yard. The bird and the eggs were made from felt. We used paper plate to glue the artwork.

My son also wrote a note "welcome spring" and glued it onto the paper plate. The image below is the final result. It looked quite cute :)!!! This craft is very easy and inexpensive to make, as well as perfect to create when teaching about spring or birds.

I also have designed a pack focusing on shapes. In this pack you will find an uncolored version of a bunny to use to create a mosaic. I also prepared the colored shapes, which you simply need to print and cut.

Furthermore, I created four exercises focusing on shapes: the first one the student will count the number of shapes he used on his mosaic. The second one he will answer a few questions about greatest and smallest, again all related to his mosaic. The third exercise is about pattern. The last worksheet is a word search based on the name of the shapes.

This material is available for FREE on TPT. To download your free copy simply click on the following link:

Let's Compare

Hello :), hope you had a wonderful day!!!!!

Since last week, I have been working with comparison numbers with my son. He did many exercises, however, he was still struggling when comparing and ordering the numbers. I felt he needed extra practice before moving on to the next chapter of our math book.

Hence, I designed a set of activities for my son, and also for the teachers and parents that feel their students/children need extra practice when doing exercises involving comparison. There are 20 exercises that allow them to practice ordering and comparing numbers up to 100. The students will also be familiarized with new vocabulary such as smaller, lesser, greater, greatest and smallest.

All the activities are designed with eye catching spring pictures, which helps the students to concentrate and be motivated.

The images below are samples of the material:
